Meet the Fortes team: Mitchel van der Werf
Every month, we put a colleague in the spotlight so you can find out who’s behind our smart software. This month: Mitchel van der Werf, Controller at Fortes Milestones.
Mitchel is 30 years old and lives in Hazerswoude-Rijndijk. Every Saturday, he can be found at the local soccer club playing a game of soccer with friends—a regular ritual he rarely misses.
Mitchel has been working at Fortes since June 2025. As a Controller, he translates financial and operational figures into management information. He doesn’t just compile the numbers—he ensures they’re actually useful.
“Translating financial and operational figures into management information so that well-informed and strategic decisions can be made.”
He brings that same mindset to his projects. For Mitchel, a project is primarily about collaboration, always keeping the ultimate goal clearly in mind. It’s not about everyone working for themselves, but about working together toward the same result.
Outside of work, Mitchel stays active: he alternates between padel, the gym, and soccer. He also enjoys going out with friends to a sidewalk café in the city or to a festival.
A surprising fact about Mitchel? He’s always up for a game of klaverjassen with friends—a game you don’t see played much anymore these days. Mitchel also highly recommends the “Cor Potcast”: a popular Dutch soccer podcast that offers an unfiltered look behind the scenes of professional soccer. Have you listened to it yet?
